A lover in captivity.
• A shrine to Febronia of Xenosaga •

A grassy field framed by a large bank of water and a huge tree. Two girls (Cecily and Catherine) run around the trunk, laughing as they play tag with each other. A women sits under the tree, as a type of supervision, she stares off into space and hardly moves. This is the scene you are greeted with once Tiamat dies. The group stands before Nephilim and Febronia, watching the similar sequence before them, having seen the women before.

Feb goes onto explain that the women over under the tree, is her, but not her at the same time. From behind the group she says that she exists where she is right now, but a portion of her and her actions lives within that person under the tree. They are identical, but yet different. The women is just a picture, a hologram set there to make the children happy, comfortable in their world. While she exists somewhere else, she must also supervise her sisters in order for them to be satisfied.

However, though the world as viewed by the group looks beautiful, peaceful and serene, it can never be like that for real. The blue skies and green grass symbolize freedom, and happiness united for the children as they play. Just as Allen comments on how happy and alive feb's sisters look, Febronia shows them the real world inside of her mirror

The scene changes from serene to horror. The tree wilts and dies, leaving dried branches and a blackened trunk. The green grass' color fades unto a dull black/grey, and the sky turns to darkened clouds. Mist and fog fill the area as the children continue to play and laugh, oblivious to their apparent surroundings. The fake image of Feb, under the tree, slightly falls to the side, eyes turning solid white, dying and decomposing.

Febronia goes onto explain that this is the real world her sisters are trapped in, not the beautiful sea-side view before. In fact, not only her sisters, but all realian are trapped in this 'world'. Though her sisters don't see this true world they live in, just the false facade of a beautiful and normal surrounding. The beautiful skies and green grass are all illusions created by the wills and wishes of those realian. Her sisters will never be released until the bind between humans and realian is separated, making life indistinguishable.

Shion, the optimistic and loving hero of our story, has been chosen by Febronia in order to set her sisters free.

Cecily and Catherine are special realian, though in an unknown way. Both possess a mental capacity that allows for the transfer of great power. For this reason, Febronia's sisters were selected to be the devices that controlled the output of the original Zohar, which, at the time, was stationed on Miltia. They were connected to the system and slept eternally from that moment on in the grassy field. Their inability to see the horrors of what they play around is also controlled by the device. Cecily and Cathe only see the false area set up to keep them from viewing the actual horrors that the Zohar is creating, the horrors that their consciousness' are allowing to be transferred into the world.

Febronia wishes most that her sisters could be set free of the horrible position they have been set in, and thus, the group heads to Old Miltia, and the home of the static Zohar. Shion meets the sleeping sisters, ravaged and yet alive, the decomposing bodies of the two girls continue to serve their purpose even after the Zohar began it's sleep. Febronia's consciousness grants Shion the final permission to release her sisters from the equipment that binds them to the exiled planet. The only option the party is left with is to destroy the system, and Febronia's sisters with it. Febronia requests to Shion that KOS-MOS be the one to do it, and as the deed is done the children's realian souls are finally able to be freed of their seemingly eternal prison.
