A lover in captivity.
• A shrine to Febronia of Xenosaga • |
Virgil is the typical brash and violent character, letting himself fall entirely into his work in the military. He holds a particular grudge against realian for an unknown cause.
He is a DME addict as well. This means that he actually consumed realian tissue, which is composed of a different matter then humans. The classic conditions for this disease are an unusual craving, and the hardening of skin. He is disgusted by his addiction, which could be a reason he hates realian so, and often says rude things about them and makes vast generalizations. He wears a mark of his addiction over his face, that supposed 'scar' is actually the DME's effect on him.
During the Miltian Conflict, Virgil served in the Federation's armies and took arms on the ravaged streets of the planet. Obviously he survived the complex disaster of the Conflict, only to walk away with his terrible addiction. Sometime near the end of the conflict, Virgil began his search for a rare and valuable piece of information that was possibly hidden within the mind of realian. His method to get to this data was simple, eat through the nero of the fallen realian in hopes that he would find what he wanted. Consequently this caused his later DME addiction, an embarrassing and hypocritical disease that he blames on the insufficient capabilities of realian.
Febronia's brief life took place on the previously peaceful Miltia, where she served under the Uzuki head. When the conflict began there is no specified answer to what happened to her and her two smaller sisters (who are assumed to have served the Uzuki's as well). We do know that Virgil is indeed linked to her somehow, possibly through this absence of time. Virgil wears a small bracelet on his right hand that connects him in a mysterious way to the lost Febronia.
Viewers are left to speculate. Did Febronia meet up with Virgil amidst the Conflict? Was her dead realian body one of the many Virgil decided to consume in his search for the Y-Data? If they had just briefly met, then how did Virgil acquire the bracelet that subtly links her to him? Many questions have gone unanswered.
